SMWLDN 2012: Ebuzzing's highlights

Yesterday, Chinwag announced the winners of the inaugral SMWLDN Awards, and it's great to see that event organisers and speakers are getting the recognition they deserve for the hard work put in to making February's Social Media Week a success. So, we decided to give you runthrough of our top picks from last month's Social Media Week, by speaking to the Ebuzzers who attended:

The Future of Sharing was our no. 1 event of the week, and it looks like a lot of other event-goers agreed with us, as it won the award for SMW London Event of the Week.  Sales manager, Donia, thought the event was "Fantastic!" The speakers covered a range of topics, from Pinterest to future apps; a key take-away for Donia was the fact that "there are no longer dedicated social platforms, brands need to have a presence on all of them to be relevant, otherwise they'll be missing out on conversation with potential brand advocates". At Ebuzzing, we believe that all media is now social, and therefore brands need to invest in this as much as other channels in the marketing mix to succeed.

There were a couple of other events that really caught our eye for being pretty insightful and making the audience think a bit more about how social is deeply integrated into society. Christian, UK Group Commercial Head, felt the event Never Mind the Buzz -  Getting to the real value for social entertainment brands, had "an insightful panel and very good discussions". Whilst at Social Media for Events, the discussion was lively and fuelled with comments via social media from the moderator. For Adwoa, Marketing & PR Manager, "the event was really interesting, giving the audience a great deal of practical takeaways on how social media should be used to promote and amplify what is happening during an event".

Another event we enjoyed was OMN London and Adobe - Social Media Week Special, which was one of the events that Shona, Community Executive, attended. She thought "the event was a great way to make connections and chat to really interesting people from the digital industry". The only drawback of the event that we noticed, was the venue capacity. It's a monthly event held on HMS President, one of the ships moored on Victoria Embankment, but as it was SMWLDN, it attracted so many people that it ended up being quite cramped for parts of the night.

We also want your thoughts on what you'd like to see from Ebuzzing in September (24-28th), for the next Social Media Week. Send your ideas and thoughts to Adwoa or comment below.
